A bit more text for the avid readers…

This year marks the 20th anniversary of my first solo exhibition. It was held at the Tallinn Photography Museum gallery "Lee," where curator Kristel Lukats was one of my first major encouragers. I am forever grateful for her support and help. The exhibition was called "London, London," and it featured the best photos I took during my first trip to London. In 2001. I had just turned eighteen and went on my first independent trip, straight to my dream city. It was still a time when mobile phones were rarities, hotel reservations had to be made through a travel agent and in London, you could still greet people with "How do you do?"

I had with me a medium format camera with black-and-white film, a SLR camera with color slide film, and six rolls of film. In total of about 150 frames. Looking back, I can say that this trip became incredibly important in shaping my identity. It was the beginning of my ongoing tradition of photography trips, my love for London, and a very personal connection to photography. In a big city, on your first trip, you feel very alone. But you have a camera... I think I even talked to my camera back then. From the mirror of a public toilet in Westminster, I took my first self-portrait and probably said out loud to myself that I must become a photographer.

The next 20 years have taken me to London countless times. I have never lived in London, nor would I call it my second home, but for a period, London was my main workplace. Since the first trip, it has become a tradition for me to take endless walks with my camera in London. It's my way of communicating and connecting with this magical city. This has created an extensive photo collection that I lovingly call "London, My Dear." To celebrate the 20th anniversary I have put together the set of 10 works you can see here.

Thank You!
